This is an another great way to stop lots of spam. You can do it in 
comments settings. In comments blacklist section you can enter the 
words, IP address, URL or email that you need to block. If any comments 
detected any of these it will moves to spam folder.<br />

A Captcha can stop spammers. It can block most of comments which are 
automatically generated by any software or anything like that. There are
 lots of captcha plugins available for wordpress. Here are some

2-SI CAPTCHA Anti-Spam<br />
3-Really Simple CAPTCHA<br />

Another way to stop guest commenting spam is to make comment section 
only for registered users. To use these settings check the following 
options in comments settings:<br />

“Users must be registered and logged in to comment”<br />

Problem with this way is that this is not acceptable way to some bloggers as it is not allow guest commenting.<br />

Make sure that you are installed the latest version of WordPress. These points will help you to stop spam commenting.<br />
